Playtech Secures UAE Vendor Licence Through VS Technology

Playtech subsidiary VS Technology Limited has received a Gaming-Related Vendor Licence from the United Arab Emirates’ General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority.

The approval adds Playtech to the group of suppliers authorised to provide gaming products and services within the UAE’s regulated commercial gaming sector. The GCGRA’s public register lists VS Technology as its 23rd licensed gaming-related vendor.

Companies that supply goods or services linked to commercial gaming in the UAE must hold a licence before they can work with approved operators.

Inside Asian Gaming reported that Playtech acquired VS Technology in 2009 through its purchase of Gaming Technology Solutions, a company that also owned VS Gaming. VS Technology previously developed EdGE, Playtech’s discontinued game aggregation system.

VS Technology joins a GCGRA vendor register that includes Aristocrat, IGT, Light & Wonder, Novomatic, Konami and Scientific Games. The wider list shows that the regulator continues to build an approved supplier base even as the number of operator licences stays limited.

Wynn Al Marjan remains the GCGRA’s only land-based gaming licensee, while The Game LLC operates the country’s lottery. Coin Technology Projects LLC holds licences for both internet gaming and sports wagering, and the register currently lists no additional companies in any of these three operator categories.

Further details remain unavailable on the regulator’s website, including the scope of VS Technology’s approved products, potential customers and the date the company plans to enter the UAE market. Playtech had not issued a separate public announcement about the approval at the time of publication.
