Editorial Policy

The news cycle in iGaming is relentless. Most of it won’t affect your work, and we at The Gambling Journal understand it. That’s why we built our resource around the commitment to publish only what is worth your time.

TGJ’s COVERAGE

TGJ covers the full B2B iGaming stack: regulation and compliance, M&A and investment, operator strategy, supplier partnerships, payments, and technology. Briefly, everything that shapes how the industry operates.

EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Every article on TGJ answers two questions: What happened, and what does it mean? We don’t publish a story unless we can answer both.

Editorial Judgment

TGJ publishes fewer stories than most iGaming news outlets. That’s deliberate, as every article on this site passes a relevance threshold of whether this affects how you run your business.

Primary Sources

We go to the source document (the regulatory filing, the official statement, the court record) verify the key facts ourselves, and attribute accordingly. When the original source is a press release, we say so. We believe you should always know where a claim comes from and how much weight to give it.

The TGJ Take

Every TGJ article includes a TGJ Take: A short editorial block that tells you what the news means for operators, suppliers, or affiliates.

Structure

TGJ articles are structured for people reading on a phone between meetings. The most important information comes first, every paragraph earns its place, and nothing runs longer than four sentences. If you only read the first three paragraphs, you’ve got the story.

Conflicting Information

If we can’t resolve a factual conflict between sources before publication, we report both versions with attribution and tell you which source we consider more authoritative. Uncertainty in the reporting is information.

ETHICAL PRINCIPLES

Good B2B journalism requires clear ethical commitments. Here are ours.

Originality and Plagiarism

All TGJ content is written from scratch against primary sources. When other publications are referenced, the reference is explicit. If a contributor is found to have plagiarised, in whole or in part, their work is removed and the relationship ends immediately.

Conflicts of Interest

Commercial relationships with advertisers and partners don’t create editorial obligations. Our reporters cover every company on its merits. If a TGJ commercial partner is involved in a story, our coverage applies the same standards as any other subject. We disclose the relationship where relevant.

WHAT WE DON’T TOLERATE

The following are not acceptable in any TGJ publication:

  • Plagiarism or reproduction of text without attribution
  • Unverified factual claims presented as confirmed
  • Promotional language passed off as journalism
  • Discriminatory, defamatory, or personally abusive content
  • Content that identifies confidential sources without consent.

USE OF AI IN CONTENT PRODUCTION

We use AI responsibly and transparently. AI tools assist our reporters in processing large volumes of source material. They don’t replace editorial judgment, and they don’t produce the copy you read. Every TGJ article is written and verified by a person with accountability for its accuracy. AI-generated content that hasn’t been substantially rewritten and editorially verified does not run on TGJ.

Editorial Independence

Our newsroom operates independently from our commercial team. Guest posts, sponsored content, and paid placements are clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial coverage. No company can buy favourable coverage on TGJ.

Corrections Policy

Accuracy matters more to us than protecting a published version. When we make an error, we correct it visibly at the top of the article, with a clear note of what was wrong.

If you spot a factual error in a TGJ article, contact us at [email protected]. We investigate every submission and issue corrections where warranted.
