Pragmatic Play Secures Certification for Alberta Market

Pragmatic Play has entered Alberta’s newly regulated iGaming market after it secured provincial certification for its slots and live casino portfolios. The supplier announced the market entry on 13 July, after the long-awaited regulation of Alberta’s online gaming sector took effect.

The certification covers slot titles including Fury of Anubis, Big Bass Blast and the Gates of Olympus series. Pragmatic Play said its approved live casino catalogue includes blackjack, baccarat, roulette and game-show titles.

The company did not identify the authority that issued the certification or name the Alberta-facing operators expected to carry its content. No launch timetable exists yet for individual operator integrations.

Ontario Partnerships Support Alberta Entry

Ontario remains the foundation of Pragmatic Play’s Canadian presence. The supplier said it already works with several tier-one brands there, although it did not name the partners in its Alberta announcement.

A single API integration will carry the distribution, according to the supplier. This gives operator partners already active in Canada a route to add certified slot and live casino content as they establish operations in Alberta.

Sharon McHugh, director of PR at Pragmatic Play, said the supplier intends to build on its Ontario activity and work with partners in the province as the regulated market develops.

The Alberta entry forms part of Pragmatic Play’s wider North American growth strategy. The announcement did not provide commercial targets, expected revenue contribution or details of any signed operator agreements in the province.

💡TGJ Take

Certification gives Pragmatic Play an early route into Alberta, but operator distribution will decide the commercial value of the move. Its existing Ontario relationships may reduce integration work for brands that enter the new province, particularly where the same technical setup can support both markets. For operators, the approval adds another established supplier to the launch pool. The next useful disclosure will be which brands carry the content and how fast those integrations go live.
