Lotería de Medellín Leads 2025 Health Contributions with COP 52 Billion Transfer

The growth came from higher sales in different lottery games. Lotería de Medellín led the way, transferring COP 52 billion to health funding. Games like “chance” and “Raspa Listo” also performed well, increasing the total contribution.

Marco Emilio Hincapié Ramírez, President of Coljuegos, highlighted that this growth shows the success of the regulatory framework. He said, “The increase in transfers shows how the sector is helping fund public health, even with changes in the market.”

The “chance” game was the top performer, generating COP 1.1 trillion in sales. Lotteries contributed COP 393.078 billion in total. Instant games like Raspa Listo added COP 147.890 billion.

For many Colombians, this funding supports access to healthcare. The money goes to subsidized health programs for people in need. However, not all operators saw growth. Empresa Comercial de Lotería de Cundinamarca reported a 21% drop in contributions, showing that some lotteries still face pressure.

The success of Colombia’s lottery system continues to play a crucial role in the country’s economy, supporting both public health and local development efforts. As 2026 begins, the sector is poised to maintain its growth and continue contributing significantly to the national healthcare system.

TGJ Take

Colombia’s lottery sector has become a key pillar in the country’s healthcare financing. For operators, the 9% increase shows steady growth in a regulated market. Affiliates should pay attention, as lottery products continue to generate stable funding. Operators entering Colombia will face competition, but the market shows solid demand.
