Stats Perform Launches AI Video Tool to Cut Highlights Time by 80%

Stats Perform launched Opta Pulse on 12 May at Opta Forum in London, an AI-assisted video creation tool the company says cuts sports highlights production time by up to 80% compared to existing workflows. The product targets leagues, rights holders, and broadcasters under pressure to deliver more short-form video across social and digital channels without the need to expand production teams.

Opta Pulse uses AI-assisted event detection to identify key match moments such as goals, shots, saves, and player milestones. It then generates broadcast-quality clips in under a minute. Full highlight packages can also be assembled faster than with current tools, according to Stats Perform.

The product is built on Opta’s live match data, which means output goes beyond raw video clips. Publishers can attach contextual layers to clips: tactical patterns, historical comparisons, and live match narratives. All of this draws on the same data infrastructure sportsbooks already use for live odds and stats feeds.

Andrew Skweres, SVP Product at Stats Perform, said content teams face pressure to produce more clips for more channels at greater speed. Opta Pulse, he said, connects Opta’s live data with synchronised video to help publishers reach key moments faster.

Distribution is built in. Opta Pulse automates video format conversion for vertical and square output and supports direct publication to social and digital channels without additional production steps. Through integration with Opta Search, rights holders can also access and package archive footage from more than 1,000 competitions globally, which Stats Perform positions as a new commercial opportunity for sponsor-led or themed content packages.

TGJ Take

Stats Perform has moved beyond data infrastructure into content production, and that matters for sportsbook operators more than the press release lets on. Operators increasingly compete on in-product engagement: live stats, pre-game context, and in-play storytelling. A tool that converts Opta’s trusted data layer directly into publishable video changes what is possible inside a betting product. The 80% speed claim is aimed at broadcasters today, but the underlying tech is a direct extension of the same data feeds sportsbooks already licence. Affiliates that operate sports content sites should take note: if Opta Pulse reaches that segment, high-volume video production is no longer a resource constraint.
