MGA Revokes Winzon Group Licence and Imposes €193,773 in Fines

MGA Revokes Winzon Group Licence and Imposes €193,773 in Fines

The MGA acted under regulation 10(2)(b) of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations. Winzon Group faces a €147,080 fine for multiple violations and owes €46,693.23 in unpaid licence and compliance fees. The total due is €193,773.23.

Winzon Group must contact all players by email and post a notice on its websites for 30 days. The company must refund all player funds and send the MGA a full transaction report. That report must include bank documents that confirm each refund was made.

Under section 51 of the Gaming Act, Winzon Group must remove all references to its MGA licence and to the Authority. The company must also tell users how their personal data will be managed now that the licence has ended.

The MGA has reserved the right to take further legal action if Winzon Group does not pay the amounts due.

TGJ Take

Winzon Group lost its licence for unpaid fees and conduct violations at the same time. The MGA did not wait for a single serious breach to act. A €147,080 fine on top of €46,693 in unpaid fees shows the MGA pursues both counts simultaneously. Operators in Malta with open fee payments should not wait for a formal warning. This case received none.
