GREF Names MGA Representative Co-Chair of InfoStat Group

The Malta Gaming Authority confirmed that Erika Spiteri Bailey, Senior Executive for BI & Data Analytics, has been appointed Co-Chair of the InfoStat Working Group at the Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF). She will serve alongside Anssi Airas as European regulators increase focus on data-led supervision, compliance monitoring, and cross-border regulatory cooperation.

European regulators use the InfoStat Working Group to exchange data practices tied to compliance controls, enforcement monitoring, and regulatory reporting. MGA said Erika Spiteri Bailey will help guide the group’s work programme and coordination between member authorities as gambling supervision becomes more dependent on analytics and operational data.

The appointment comes as regulators across Europe place more attention on real-time monitoring systems, AML controls, player protection metrics, and operator reporting standards. Several jurisdictions have already expanded technical reporting obligations for licensees over the past two years.

For operators active in multiple European markets, closer coordination between regulators could gradually reduce differences in reporting expectations and compliance procedures. Suppliers working in regtech, AML systems, behavioural monitoring, and compliance analytics may also see higher demand from operators preparing for tighter supervisory standards.

TGJ Take

This is another sign that European regulators want more shared access to compliance and operational data between jurisdictions. For operators, that means reporting standards across Europe are likely to move closer together, especially around AML checks, player monitoring, and transaction reporting. Groups active in several markets may need to review how consistent their reporting systems really are between licences. Suppliers working in compliance software, analytics, and monitoring tools could see more demand as regulators increase data requirements.
