ATG Installs Forsberg as Interim CEO Following CEO Exit
ATG appointed Jörgen Forsberg as interim CEO on March 5, 2026, following an extraordinary board meeting in Sweden. He replaces chairman Peter Norman, who had held the role since Hasse Lord Skarplöth stepped down in February after 13 years in charge. The board selected Forsberg to lead the company during the search for a permanent CEO and to implement its current strategic plans.
Forsberg steps in as ATG deals with weaker results. The company reported a drop in performance in 2025, which led the board to review its plans and leadership. Skarplöth left after they disagreed on the company’s next steps.
He will run ATG alongside his current role as CEO of Svensk Travsport. This means he will manage both the operator and the sport’s governing body during the transition period. Ulf Hörnberg will support day-to-day operations at Svensk Travsport to keep both organisations running.
The board expects Forsberg to focus on execution rather than new strategy. Peter Norman said he will lead the implementation of existing plans while the search for a permanent CEO continues.
ATG works in a tougher market since Sweden changed its gambling rules in 2019. More international operators entered the space, and ATG has started to expand abroad. Its joint venture with Hippos Oy has already applied for a licence in Finland, with a planned launch in 2027.
TGJ Take
ATG is holding its current plan and focusing on execution for now. The board is not looking for big changes, which shows that pressure in Sweden is still strong as more international operators compete for the same users. For affiliates and partners, this means things stay stable in the short term. The next CEO will be the one who decides if ATG pushes further into markets like Finland or shifts focus back to Sweden.
