PUBG MOBILE, Infinix Target Kenya Students With PMVS

PUBG MOBILE and Infinix have launched the PUBG MOBILE Varsity Showdown, a nationwide university esports tournament aimed at student players across Kenya.

Announced in Nairobi, the event runs from mid-May to late June 2026. Squads of four players plus one substitute will compete through online qualifiers, quarterfinals, semifinals and an offline grand final, with the final date still to be confirmed.

Infinix powers the event through its GT Series gaming lineup, built for competitive play. Participants will also be able to test the newly launched GT 30 Pro, while the company prepares to bring the GT 50 Pro to the Kenyan market.

Participants will compete for a USD 1,000 prize pool, 10 Infinix GT 30 Pro smartphones and national recognition across participating campuses.

Beyond the matches, the campaign includes campus ambassador programs, community tournaments, weekly online mini events, creator-led social media content and user-generated content challenges. Registration is now open for university students across Kenya.

As part of its broader African strategy, PUBG MOBILE cited creator support, local community operations, server development and plans to introduce more African cultural elements into future game versions.

TGJ Take

This is not gambling news, but it matters for suppliers and affiliates who monitor Africa’s youth digital markets. PUBG MOBILE and Infinix are using universities as a low-cost acquisition channel, a model that mirrors how betting operators and affiliates built brand reach across mobile-first markets. For B2B suppliers, Kenya is again a reminder that Africa cannot be treated as one broad region. Campus-level activation may prove a more effective route than broad media spend.
