DATA.BET Report Shows Shift Toward Low-Tier Esports Betting

DATA.BET’s 2026 Sportsbook Report says low-tier and semi-professional esports events generated up to 30% of total esports profit during 2025. The report highlights Valorant semi-pro matches as a growing betting segment and says operators are expanding event coverage and multi-vertical products as higher taxes continue to pressure margins across Europe.

Low-tier esports events are becoming a more important part of sportsbook strategy instead of simply filling gaps between major tournaments. For operators dealing with higher taxes and growing compliance costs, these events can provide more regular betting activity throughout the year rather than relying mainly on seasonal Tier-1 competitions.

DATA.BET linked the growth to a larger number of events and betting markets during 2025. Semi-professional Valorant matches were one of the stronger segments, showing growing demand for betting content that stays active throughout the year and not only during major tournaments.

For suppliers, operators are asking for more regular betting content across esports, sports, and virtuals instead of focusing mainly on major tournaments. DATA.BET said broader coverage helped increase partner turnover by 23% during 2025. Smaller casino brands entering sports betting may also use lower-tier esports to build steady betting activity without spending heavily on premium sports rights or expensive marketing campaigns.

💡 TGJ Take

Operators are putting more focus on lower-tier esports as they look for steadier betting volume outside major tournament periods. That shift matters more now as taxes and compliance costs continue to rise across Europe. Suppliers with broader esports coverage and more frequent events are likely to have an advantage when competing for sportsbook deals. For smaller casino brands, lower-tier esports may offer a more realistic entry point into sports betting than trying to compete directly with Tier-1 sports content.
