Betfred Signs BR-DGE for Payment Orchestration Across UK Operations
Betfred has partnered with BR-DGE to manage all UK pay-ins and pay-outs through one connection. BR-DGE processed over one million transactions during the four-day Cheltenham Gold Cup. Betfred described the event as its most successful to date.
The deal gives Betfred access to multiple payment providers, cards, bank-to-bank payments, and digital wallets through a single setup. BR-DGE also runs real-time fraud and identity checks at pre- and post-authorisation stages through a specialist partner in the connection.
Betfred’s card data compliance obligations have also been reduced under the deal. BR-DGE Vault stores sensitive card data outside Betfred’s own systems. That lets Betfred process payments across multiple providers, with automatic backup if one provider fails.
Jacob Spencer, Chief Revenue Officer at BR-DGE, said the partnership gives Betfred the ability to handle transaction spikes “without slowing or restricting transactions” during major sporting events.
Nick Cockerill, Group Chief Product Officer at Betfred, said customers expect payments to feel “easy and trusted.” BR-DGE, he said, supports that during Betfred’s busiest periods.
Additional markets beyond the UK are planned, though no timeline has been confirmed.
TGJ Take
Betfred ran over one million transactions through BR-DGE in four days at Cheltenham without a slowdown. For context, most operators on single-provider setups lose transactions at that volume. The 2026 calendar includes a World Cup, a Grand National, and a full Premier League season. Each of those events will spike payment volumes. Operators who wait until then to fix their setup will lose transactions they cannot recover.
