Chubut Lottery Moves Horse Betting Online With Beturf April Launch

Lotería del Chubut (the Institute of Social Assistance – IAS) signed a definitive agreement with Beturf in mid-March 2026, according to the provincial lottery. The service went live in April. It allows users to place regulated wagers on both Argentine and international races through a dedicated digital channel. The move aims to update the lottery’s current offer and shift activity away from informal markets.

The deal adds a digital layer to Chubut’s betting system. Users no longer need to attend physical venues to access racing markets. The offer includes races from Argentina as well as the United States, France, Uruguay, Chile, and Canada. This wider coverage increases betting volume and frequency across time zones.

Ramiro Ibarra, President of Lotería del Chubut, stated that the agreement gives the provincial operator access to racing content and infrastructure without building a proprietary system. The lottery can launch faster while maintaining local regulatory control. He also confirmed that part of the wagering revenue will support Argentina’s turf industry, including jockeys and trainers.

For Beturf, the technology arm of the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, the agreement expands its reach within a market where gambling rules are set at the provincial level. Suppliers must secure local agreements to operate legally. This structure makes lottery partnerships the main route to scale across Argentina.

With the rollout underway, early performance will show how quickly users adopt the online format and whether regulated access captures activity that sits outside licensed channels. The initial results are likely to shape further digital expansion plans in the province.

TGJ Take

This deal shows that in Argentina, access to users matters more than building new technology. Beturf already has racing content and infrastructure, but it still depends on provincial agreements to scale. Lotería del Chubut focuses on speed by adopting an existing system instead of developing its own. For suppliers targeting LatAm, this confirms that growth depends on securing local distribution first. If Chubut delivers strong early results, other provinces are likely to follow the same model.
