Playtech Posts Strong Q1‑Q2 2026 Trading on US and Mexico Gains

Playtech reported that trading in the first four months of 2026 exceeded expectations, driven by growth in the US, Mexico, and certain European markets. Returns from US operations are accelerating, while the Caliente Interactive partnership in Mexico continues to perform strongly. Live Casino activity also contributed to early-year momentum across regulated markets.

The results highlight that Playtech’s focus on key markets is paying off. CEO Mor Weizer said US operations are now producing real returns, showing that expansion in North America is bringing both growth and profit. For operators and affiliates, this shows that investing in regulated markets can deliver results quickly.

Mexico remains a critical market. Playtech’s Caliente partnership, including the Caliplay joint venture signed in September 2024, is performing well. The upcoming FIFA World Cup is expected to drive additional betting activity and reinforce Caliente’s market leadership. Operators targeting Latin American players should note the timing and scale of this opportunity.

In the UK, Playtech is reviewing Sun Bingo after the Remote Gaming Duty rose from 21% to 40%, making the business unprofitable. Ian Penrose, senior independent director, will step down after the 2026 full-year results but will stay on until spring 2027 to ensure a smooth handover. The situation shows how quickly tax changes can force operators to rethink lower-margin B2C products.

TGJ Take

Playtech’s early 2026 performance shows that investments in regulated markets in the US and Mexico are generating profit, not just growth. Suppliers in North America without local partnerships or scalable technology may see slower returns. Higher taxes and regulatory changes can quickly make lower-margin B2C operations unprofitable. Operators and affiliates should shift focus to regulated markets with clearer returns to protect revenue and maintain flexibility.
